Position:
Great Island Homeowners’ Association is currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic sailing instructors for the 2024 summer season. Our sailing fleet consists of Optimists, 420's and Lasers. The program runs from Late-June to Early-September.

About Great Island:
Great Island is a serene and beautiful private, summer-oriented residential community of approximately 600 acres in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts on the south shore of Cape Cod.  The island, which is accessible by road, consists of pristine beaches on Nantucket Sound and Lewis Bay, marshland, fields, forested conservation land, a sheltered cove, a historic lighthouse and 41 privately owned homes. Other amenities include a small seasonal restaurant, a 10-hole rustic golf course, four tennis courts, two pickleball courts, and two docks.

Position Description:
To instruct a small group of grade school students in the techniques of sailing. We are mainly a recreational program but have entered several regattas (Opti Green and 420).

Instructors will also be expected to oversee the care and maintenance of our fleet and depending on our staffing, some off-water camp activities.

Anyone with interest in working approximately 30 hours a week is encouraged to reach out to us for more information.

Qualifications:

  • US Sailing Level 1 or higher preferred, or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of our summer season.
  • Have experience with boats in our fleet and small power boats
  • CPR and First Aid Certification

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Compensation:
$500 per week ($450 per week for junior instructors)
Great Island will pay for 1/2 the fee for your 2024 US Sailing Level 1 or Level 2 course at the end of the employment season.
Opportunity to provide private sailing instruction during non-working hours
